FUNDING A PIZZERIA

Match the financing conversation to the project.

These are starting points to discuss with a lender. Programs are not exclusive to pizza businesses, and each provider decides eligibility.

Buying an existing shop

Ask a participating lender whether an SBA 7(a) loan fits the acquisition, equipment and working-capital needs. Bring the purchase terms and seller’s financial records.

Replacing ovens or refrigeration

Compare equipment financing with other eligible loan options. Ask about used equipment, installation, liens, personal guarantees and total repayment—not just the monthly payment.

Buying the property

Ask a Certified Development Company whether an SBA 504 project fits eligible fixed assets. Budget separately for inventory and working capital.

BEFORE YOU MAKE AN OFFER

Your pizzeria buyer preparation list.

Use these conversation starters with the seller, your accountant, attorney and prospective lender. Your lender will specify the documents it needs.

Create my free buyer profile
01

Know your total budget

Allow for the purchase, closing costs, equipment repairs, opening inventory and cash reserves. Ask what contribution the lender requires.

02

Understand the sales

Request tax returns, profit-and-loss statements, bank records and POS reports. Reconcile delivery-platform sales and fees with reported revenue.

03

Inspect the kitchen

Check ovens, mixers, refrigeration and ventilation. Establish what is owned, leased or subject to liens, and have qualified professionals inspect condition.

04

Review the lease and approvals

Discuss assignment, landlord consent, remaining term and renewal options with your attorney. Confirm permit and license requirements locally.

05

Look beyond the asking price

Review food costs, payroll, occupancy costs and the owner’s working hours. Ask an accountant to assess cash flow and seller adjustments.

06

Compare funding terms

Ask about interest, fees, collateral, guarantees, repayment schedules and any prepayment restrictions. Request terms in writing.
